A small village situated on the coast of the Bay of Bengal at a distance of 30 kms from Vizag Appikonda assumed religious importance owing to the existence of a Shiva temple (Lord Someshwara) containing a life size Nandi carved out of black stone. The Siva temple contains inscriptions dating back to the 12th century A.D. These inscriptions mention that this village was granted continuance by a commander-in-chief of the Cholas so that devotees could continue to worship in the temple.

There are also other small temples around the temple but are mostly covered with sand dunes. The temple contains inscriptions of 12th century A.D.
