The game of Golf is no longer the old birdie's game but we can see people of all ages "teeing off" early in the morning at the only golf course in vizag. From a handful of golfers in the 60's, the number of golfers have reached to hundreds thanks East Point Golf Club, the place, and the game itself.
Started in 1884 East Point Golf Club after couple of twists and turns finally settled in the Mudasarlova Reservoir Area at an area of 100 Acres. This 18 hole course set amidst green hills of eastern ghats beside Mudasarlove Reservoir East Point Golf Club is a One of those few Places where you are never tired of anything.

East Point Golf Club
Founded by the officers of the British garrison and the Railways, was initially attached to Waltair Club making it purely a white man's domain. The golf link with nine holes was set on a piece of land leased from the zamindar of Cheemudu and was located on what is now called VUDA Park.

In the early part 1900, the club was renamed as East Point Golf Club from Waltair Club Golf Club, due to some problems arising between the club management and the landowners.

During the World Wars, it was closed only to be revived in 1955 by the Americans of the then Caltex Oil Refinery and was maintained by them till 1964.

The year 1964 has lot of significance in the club's glorious annals. It was then shifted from the old area to its present location beside the Mudasarlova reservoir. The Vizianagaram ruler, who was also a golfer, was instrumental in getting the 100 acres of land sanctioned from Municipality for a 99 year lease at an annual rent of Rs. 500 and on the condition that the entire land was to be developed in 10 years.

Vizag's way of  
EPGC golf course located 15 km. from the city and just south of the beach, is nestled among a mixture of mango and swaying palm trees. The Course, with green hills on two sides and an azure lake on the other, with nature's own hazards is a challenging yet playable one for all golfers, and is a truly "back to nature" experience. With a very good layout, the Course has lovely greens and plenty of sand bunkers. The course is heavily treed and has a rolling/rocky terrain with plenty of marshland, that all makes for a great day of golf. Do you lay up and go for the green? Do you fade one around the hazard or opt for the straight and narrow? The choice of shots is completely yours at East Point Golf Club. More conservative players can always take the safe route, but bolder competitors can challenge the course for a thrilling experience.
