The Red Sand Dunes or known as “Erra Matti Dibbalu” near Bheemunipatnam are natural deposits of red sand with occasional patches of green trees.

Result of 1.8 million years of “ferrogination” of the “haemitite” these dunes are 1.8 million years of weather-beaten handiwork. Resembling mini Grand Canyon these these natural ravines spread extensively in various maze like formations.
Things to Do  
'Erra Matti Dibbalu', literally meaning Red Earth Hillocks just looks like a mini Chambal Valley.
Picnicing is a perfectactivity out there
How to Reach There
Though State run transpotation is available fro bhimili, it is recommended to take SIC tour or own vehicle to reach Bhimili whichis 25 km from the town.

Events and Attractions  
Bheemunipatnam is supposed to have originated in the days of the mahabharatha (its named after Bheema) as per legends. Most probably its origins were around the 3rd century BCE related to early Buddhism in Andhra Pradesh.
